The Club's mission is as follows: Emphasizing the three R's of Respect, Restraint, and Responsibility through athletic competition; building self-esteem while allowing growth; emphasizing the importance of being literate, educated and prepared citizens; addressing problems stemming from teen idleness; instilling the desire to lead productive lives; teaching moral, social and cultural development practices and activities.

Mathews-Dickey Boys' & Girls' Club (MDBGC) does not meet the following 2 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 3: Frequency and Attendance of Board Meetings - An organization shall have a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings per year of the full governing body with a majority in attendance, with face-to-face participation. A conference call of the full board can substitute for one of the three meetings of the governing body. For all meetings, alternative modes of participation are acceptable for those with physical disabilities.

The organization does not meet the meeting attendance provision of this standard calling for at least 50% attendance on average for meetings held in the past fiscal year. 

Standard 14: Budget - Have a board-approved annual budget for its current fiscal year, outlining projected expenses for major program activities, fund raising, and administration.

The organization's budget does not clearly identify the projected amounts to be spent on program service, fundraising, and administrative activities.

Programs

              

1. To promote and sponsor athletic activities of all kinds for its members, especially young people. 2. To provide training, competition, and enjoyment for members and participants in club sponsored athletic events. 3. To teach wholesome appreciation of the value of sports, to promote sportsmanship and fair play among its members and to inspire in young people the necessity of being honest and upright citizens. 4. To inculcate a sense of civic interest and responsibility among its members. 5. To develop, train and support instructors, coaches, umpires, referees, and sponsors for its teams and athletic events. 6. To develop and support athletic teams and leagues among its members and other civic organizations. 7. To develop, promote and sponsor non-athletic training programs for young people.
