Programs

Since its founding in 1983, GRC has served 40,000 children through three programs: Academic Challenge Cup, Saturday Learning Labs and Summer Academies. In 2009 GRC served 2,500 students in grades K-8, including students from 209 schools, 35 school districts and 66 zip codes. All GRC courses encourage teamwork, task organization, flexibility and analytical thinking, as well as participatory decision-making. In addition to the intellectual stimulation of a challenging curriculum, students improve their social skills by working cooperatively with others. This is important because gifted children often focus on pleasing adults to such an extent that their social skills with peers suffer. Approximately 50 part-time, experienced teachers drawn from all parts of the metropolitan area staff GRC programs. For them, teaching challenging students is not a job--it's their passion. In addition to their own expertise, GRC faculty participates in in-service training designed to improve their ability to deal with gifted children, especially their social and emotional growth.

For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2010, GRC's program expenses were:

GRC Programs 218,462
Total Program Expenses: $218,462
