The Foster Care Coalition of Greater St. Louis is a private non-profit agency founded in 1989 that works to create permanency in every foster child’s life by recruiting and supporting foster and adoptive families. Our vision is for a community that embraces its most vulnerable members, ensuring that each child in foster care has an opportunity for a healthy, successful life. The Coalition recruits safe, appropriate and caring individuals who open their hearts and homes for children who have been physically or sexually abused, abandoned or neglected. Additionally, the Coalition provides critical support services to give these families the tools they need to help our children heal. These services include support groups for parents and for teens, family and educational advocacy, 24/7 Crisis Intervention, trainings and workshops, respite help, a resale store, and more. Together with KSDK NewsChannel 5, we produce a weekly segment, “A Place to Call Home” which features children available for adoption. Innovative and unique adoption programs, created by the Coalition, have success rates of nearly 70%. Of the foster parents who use our support services, 98% continue to foster compared to just 40% nationally.
