Evaluation Conclusions

               

Evangelical Children's Home (EVH) does not meet the following 3 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 6: Board Policy on Effectiveness - Have a board policy of assessing, no less than every two years, the organization's performance and effectiveness and of determining future actions required to achieve its mission.

The organization's board of directors does not have an official policy that the organization's performance and effectiveness will be assessed at least once every two years.  The organization has informed the BBB that it is working to comply with this standard. 

Standard 7: Board Approval of Written Report on Effectiveness - Submit to the organization's governing body, for its approval, a written report that outlines the results of the aforementioned performance and effectiveness assessment and recommendations for future actions.

The organization did not produce a written report outlining the results of the effectiveness assessment.  The organization has informed the BBB that it is working to comply with this standard. 

Standard 17: Web Site Disclosures - Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.

The organization solicits donations via its website; however, it does not have its annual report information or a link to its most recent IRS Form 990 on the site.  The organization has informed the BBB that it is working to comply with this standard.

Programs

               

The organization's St. Louis based programs include residential treatment for abused children ages 6 to 18; day treatment at our On-Grounds School for our residents and for children with behavior and truancy problems who still live at home; two community-based group homes for children; the Steppingstone independent living program for older teens; counseling services for families and individuals; and day care for preschoolers from low-income families. Our Kansas City campus is dedicated solely to our Steppingstone program serving homeless and at-risk youth ages 16-21 through a three stage transitional living program.
