Programs

Since 1954, The Greater Richmond ARC offers programs and services that directly address our families’ and our communities’ unmet needs – early intervention, after school care, family respite supports, recreation, adult day services and vocational programs. Our core programs, with over 1,400 individuals and families each year, include: Infant and Child Development Services: Since 1976, parents have become more confident and competent to meet the needs of their children who have developmental disabilities. Their children are learning skills for the school years and beyond. ARC Industrial Services: Men and women have been working at ARC and becoming more self-supporting since the early 1970s. ARC Industrial Services employs and or helps individuals to find jobs in our own production facility, at federal government sites and in community businesses. Adult Day Support and After School Services: Individuals with severe disabilities who can not work can socialize and improve daily living skills. Adult services began in the 1970s, and parents of school-aged children have sustained employment when after-school services were begun in 2000. Camp Baker: A summer day camp for children with intellectual disabilities started in 1956; Camp Baker now has year-round programs, including a residential summer camp, weekend and emergency respite, after school care and adult day support programs. Camp Baker is located on 22 acres in the heart of Chesterfield County.
