The Villa fulfills its mission by serving the community's most challenged children and families including those who are homeless; at risk for social, emotional, or academic difficulties; and diagnosed with autism or other developmental disability. The Villa takes a highly individualized approach to service delivery to meet the needs of each child and family. Our programs are characterized by a low client-to-staff ratio with most interactions conducted in small groups or one-on-one.

Program Services


The Villa's services include:

  • Special, alternative, and non-traditional education;
  • After-school, weekend respite, and summer programming for children with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities;
  • Mental health services including educational, after-school, and residential programs to help children and youth overcome negative behaviors and severe mental health issues, plus services for adults;
  • Support for homeless families in obtaining housing, education, and employment;
  • Court-mandated co-parenting workshops; and
  • Housing for adults with disabilities, with support services provided at the resident's request.

Method(s) Used:

Direct mail, invitations to fund raising events, print advertisements, grant proposals, internet, in-person appeals to select donors and prospective donors, participation in combined campaigns including the Amazing Raise, Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, Central Virginia Area Combined Federal Campaign, Local Government and Schools Campaign through United Way.
Fund raising costs were 15% of related contributions. (Related contributions, which totaled $4,020,926, are donations received as a result of fund raising activities.)
