Programs

Jackson-Feild Homes is a 155-year-old residential treatment center dedicated to transforming the lives of needy and at-risk girls. We began as an orphanage and our programs and services evolved as the needs of our girls changed over the years. We offer trauma learning focused services to include clinical services, school, spiritual program and residential services for girls ages 12-21 and their families. We are the largest treatment center for girls in Virginia. We have a storied history and have served thousands of girls. We transitioned from an orphanage to a children's home in the 1970's and further refined our services in the 1990's to become a treatment center. In 1988 we added the Eleventh House, a community-based group home in Richmond. This program was started in 1975 to serve girls who would not be returning home, focusing on preparing them for independent living. Jackson-Feild is accredited by the Council on Accreditation demonstrating that JFH is recognized as an organization that successfully implements high performance standards and delivers the highest quality services to our girls. We assisted 100 girls this past year. The majority were placed by Departments of Social Services. Most have experienced trauma, such as neglect and/or abuse, both physical and sexual and they often exhibit harmful and destructive behaviors and symptoms that negatively impact themselves and those around them. Some examples are low self esteem, cutting, running away, fighting, promiscuity, depression and anxiety. It prevents them from being able to function in the community and in their homes. We employ a variety of treatment modalities to serve our girls. Our accredited school provides secondary schooling, vocational training, distance learning and partners with the local community college to provide high school and college credits. We have an outstanding reputation which results in girls being placed from all areas of the Commonwealth. We work with the whole girl, physically, mentally, spiritually, and educationally.
