Christmas gifts were distributed to 78 local foster children. Toys and books were distributed to 2,293 local needy children - each child received a major toy or bike, school supplies, books, and some small toy gifts. Food was distributed to 3,165 local needy individuals - each family received about one week's groceries and meat for Christmas dinner. Clothing was distributed to 2,293 local needy children - each child received pants, shirt, underwear, socks and gloves for Christmas. Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother also coordinates sponsoring groups and families who want to support the individualized holiday needs of a specific family. Through this program an additional 566 families representing 1,816 individuals received gifts, new toys, clothing and food during the holiday season. Eighty nursing home residents received gifts. The total number of individuals served was 5,139. They are all residents of Chesterfield and Colonial heights.
