Programs

PFM provides in-prison seminars and special events that focus on exposure to Biblical values and their applications and development of leadership skills and qualities. The organization also facilitates Bible studies, develops mentoring relationships and supports released prisoners. The Angel Tree program enables prisoner-parents to connect with their children by providing Christmas gifts and personal messages. Angel Tree also matches prisoners' children with local churches that can send them to camp. The program trains churches to set up Christ-centered mentoring programs, and its pen pal program matches Christians with prisoners who desire a pen-pal relationship. Operation Starting Line attracts non-religious prisoners through events, including musical performances, comedy, athletic exhibitions, and speakers. PFM publishes the Inside Journal, a bi-monthly newspaper bulk-shipped to chaplains for distribution. The publication gives examples of other prisoners and ex-prisoners participating in PFM's programs and offers information on preparing for release. Some ($2,643,000 or 9%) of PFM's program activities are carried out in conjunction with fund raising appeals.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2010, PFM's program expenses were:

Program ministry 20,355,000
Public education 5,733,000
International prison ministry 3,296,000
