AFC is an interdenominational service ministry that aids rural communities in Nicaragua. The organization focuses its efforts in areas such as water and sanitation, education and nutrition, small business opportunities, community development, and missionary/volunteer support. Through its education and nutrition program, AFC builds in areas where the local government has no budget and constructs feeding centers next to schools to encourage nutrition and to increase attendance. AFC reports that through its small business opportunity program, families are offered low interest loans. The organization also supports a pay it forward animal program that facilitates ownership of cows, pigs, and chickens to rural families. Ownership of the animals will provide food and income to the receiving family and will also produce offspring that will be paid forward to benefit another family.
