Programs

The installation of water points, particularly through drilling boreholes and repairing hand pumps, is LWI’s primary program. The organization believes that the most effective way to transform communities is by focusing on specific districts or regions within each country, and working until all communities are served by water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions (WaSH). LWI desires that each community be mentored toward an end goal of being able to maintain and eventually replace their water systems independently. The majority of people in the communities LWI serves are oral learners, living in largely non-literate societies. The organization develops strategies, encapsulated in workshops that they offer as a tool to local churches in the areas where they work. LWI relies on partnerships and collaborative relationships with other disciple-making groups to increase their collective impact.

For the year ended December 31, 2009, LWI's program expenses were:

Water well programs 11,408,632
Training and hygiene 107,250
Total Program Expenses: $11,515,882
