Programs

GFUSA helps the world's poor, especially women, improve their lives and escape poverty by providing them with access to small loans, essential information, and income-generating opportunities. Through microfinance and mobile phone-based technology, the organization works to make a difference in the lives of those who have been left behind. The organization does this by helping local microfinance institutions and other poverty-focused organizations become more effective and efficient, enabling them to reach more poor people with small loans and other financial services. GFUSA works with these organizations to help them find financing, ensure that their staff are as productive as possible, and help them demonstrate that their efforts are reaching the poor. Working with local and global allies, the organization also creates mobile phone-based solutions to address the devastating effects that “information poverty” can have on people. GFUSA helps the poor to better manage their health, their crops and their finances, and even to find new income-generating opportunities, enabling them to improve their lives and break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families.

For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, GFUSA's program expenses were:

Microfinance 4,447,627
