Programs

              

AmeriCares aims to save lives and to restore health by delivering medicines, medical supplies and humanitarian aid to people in need around the world and across the United States. In 2009, AmeriCares reports aiding more than 25 million people around the world. Also, through its global and domestic medical assistance, and medical outreach as well as emergency response programs, it reports reaching about 270 health care partners in 92 countries with medicines and medical supplies donated by more than 160 pharmaceutical companies and medical manufacturers. AmeriCares also supports ongoing humanitarian programs by working with local partners to deliver assistance. In Connecticut, AmeriCares’ free clinic provides quality healthcare services to the uninsured; AmeriCares HomeFront refurbishes the homes of the physically and financially disadvantaged; and Camp AmeriKids gives a summer camping experience to inner-city children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS and it also provides leadership training to campers who have aged out of Camp.

Haiti Earthquake Relief Activities

              

AmeriCares delivers donated medicines, medical supplies and humanitarian aid to people in need. AmeriCares reports that it has been working in Haiti since 1984, delivering medicines and supplies to health care providers throughout the country. To date, the organization reports that its medical assistance has reached over 60 hospitals and medical facilities treating the injured in Haiti.
