Programs

              

BMF operates a patient aid program which provides financial assistance for donor searches, compatibility testing, bone marrow or stem cell collection, cord blood banking, medications, medical equipment, home and child care services, housing, transportation and other patient needs. BMF reports that its “supportline” provides free services to link patients who may be considering or actually undergoing bone marrow/stem cell transplantation and/or their family members and caregivers with post-transplant patients and their family members and caregivers, with the goal of providing telephone or on-line support during the transplant experience from the perspective of someone who has experienced it. BMF also provides other services like “ask the expert” which is a question and answer service where patients can privately, via e-mail, ask questions of medical professionals about bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. As part of the service, the individual and the health care professional remain anonymous to each other.
