B'nai B'rith International (BBI) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 3: Frequency and Attendance of Board Meetings - An organization shall have a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings per year of the full governing body with a majority in attendance, with face-to-face participation. A conference call of the full board can substitute for one of the three meetings of the governing body. For all meetings, alternative modes of participation are acceptable for those with physical disabilities.

BBI does not meet this Standard because:

  • The board of directors held one meeting of the full governing board in the past fiscal year.

Programs

              

BBI operates 3 centers in order to meet its mission and objectives. Through its Center for Human Rights and Public Policy (CHRPP), BBI brings a Jewish voice to international and domestic policy and in defense of Israel. In the United States, CHRPP coordinates the organization’s advocacy for the safety, security, and rights of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. In Latin America, it works to build tolerance and to promote social justice. BBI strives to fight against all forms of racism and discrimination, including anti-Semitism. Furthermore, BBI’s CHRPP is an advocate for Holocaust restitution in Central and Eastern Europe. BBI’s Center for Senior Services (CSS) provides housing and information on aging as well as advocacy and national leadership on issues affecting Jewish seniors. The organization reports being the largest national Jewish sponsor of senior housing in the United States and that it operates more than 50 fixed-income housing facilities worldwide. Through its Center for Community Action (CCA), BBI serves local communities, provides food and clothing, and aids victims of disasters.
