Programs

              

ASP partners with volunteers (ages 14 through retirement) from across the country to effect emergency home repair projects in rural areas of Appalachian Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Services extended include: repairing roofs, building room additions, providing wheelchair ramps, installing or repairing plumbing, updating unsafe wiring, securing foundations, digging drainage ditches, constructing porches and steps, installing insulation and siding, and weatherizing homes. ASP reports year-round efforts in four Appalachian communities and in an additional 25 locations during summer months. According to the organization, in 2010, 15,541 volunteers from 34 states repaired 599 homes.
