Programs

              

Staffed by licensed social workers, AFA through its toll-free hotline provides counseling, crisis response and referrals to local agencies that offer direct services. Along with offering bilingual resource materials, AFA produces “CareADvantage,” a free quarterly magazine focusing on the dementia caregiver. Its division Dementia Care Professionals of America offers membership, opportunities for networking, and continuing education and training to dementia care providers. AFA also awards grants on a competitive basis to its nonprofit members in developing/enhancing local services or aiding families in need of respite care. Every November, AFA sponsors National Memory Screening Day, which promotes early detection of Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses, and a National Commemorative Candle Lighting for remembering and honoring Americans who have been or will be affected by Alzheimer's disease or related illnesses.
