Programs

              

AWC operates programs such as the neighbor to neighbor program, shelter support program, public wellness program, etc. Through its neighbor to neighbor program, the organization collects and redistributes furniture and home goods to battered women’s shelters and to families transitioning out of homelessness. The organization reports that it furnishes the homes of more than 1,000 children and adults every month free of charge. Through AWC’s public housing wellness program, the organization provides health workshops and basic necessities for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, AWC operates a “well mother, well baby” program in which low income pregnant adolescents are provided with educational workshops that teach parenting skills, newborn care, and financial management as well as given basic items needed for their children such as car seats, strollers, and cribs. In addition, AWC works in low income school and shelters and leads educational workshops on topics ranging from self-esteem and stress management to resume writing and financial planning.
