NWHN works to create health care policy that reflects and responds to the diversity of women's experiences. The organization focuses on three areas concerning women's health: ensuring that women have self-determination in all aspects of their reproductive and sexual health; establishing universal health care that meets the needs of diverse women; and changing how menopause is perceived and addressed. The organization also monitors the actions of federal regulatory and funding agencies, industry and health care professions, identifies abuses, and exposes abuse and supports grassroots action. NWHN operates the Women's Health Information Service to support consumer decision-making. People with questions about women's health can call, write or post a question on the organization's website and receive an individualized response. NWHN also produces fact sheets, position papers, press statements and occasional books which provide individuals with both facts and analysis.
