Programs

              

MMM operates a hospital in the remote tribal lands of the Tarahumara Indians, whose territory spreads over a system of mountains and canyons in the Sierra Madre. The hospital has 20 beds in men’s, women’s and children’s wards; general and dental surgery suites; an emergency room; x-ray capability; a laboratory; kitchen and dining facilities; staff housing; and ambulance services. It provides free care daily, year-round, and surgery teams from Mexico and the United States are hosted to do general and eye surgeries. In order to make health a reachable goal for the Tarahumaras, MMM has expanded their services to include a community health program that targets the root causes of their health problems. The program includes well drilling, native midwife training, remote clinic operation, health teaching, adult literacy training, agricultural and economic development, and emergency air service.
