Programs

MFK accomplishes its mission by developing, manufacturing and distributing nutritious foods - including Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, Medika Mamba (MM), which is Haitian Creole for “peanut butter medicine.” MM is targeted to moderately and severely malnourished children between 6 months and 5 years old, and is made with Haitian peanuts, milk powder, oil, sugar and vitamin/mineral compound. MM contains no water so there is no risk for bacterial contamination, and no cooking or refrigeration is required. MM can be administered by a caretaker in a home-setting, increasing the potential number of children that can be treated. The organization's development model aims to combat malnutrition in Haiti while also addressing some of its underlying causes. MFK stimulates economic development by making their MM in Haiti with Haitian labor and promotes agricultural development by working with farmers and incorporating their raw materials into MFK's MM.

For the year ended December 31, 2010, MFK's program expenses were:

Project expenses 791,053
Total Program Expenses: $791,053
