Programs

JDRF funds research and clinical trials across disciplines to develop better treatments - and ultimately a cure - for the 3 million Americans and millions of others worldwide with type 1 diabetes. The organization's focus is on regenerative medicine, complications therapies, transplant science, immune therapies, and glucose control, which includes the development of an artificial pancreas. JDRF science embodies the concept of "cure, treat, prevent," delivering a cure for people living with diabetes, developing treatments so they remain healthy enough to benefit from a cure, and preventing the disease in future generations. In the past fiscal year, JDRF reports that it funded some $100 million in research in more than 20 countries worldwide, with the aim of accelerating the pace of science leading to cures and treatments. Toward that goal, JDRF partnered with academic centers and laboratories, companies and governments worldwide. Some ($1,558,968 or 1%) of JDRF's program activities are carried out in conjunction with fundraising appeals.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2010, JDRF's program expenses were:

Research support 117,920,000
Public education 38,657,000
Total Program Expenses: $156,577,000
