Programs

CMMB seeks to build the healthcare capacity of local communities through its programs. Its programs focus primarily on the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS and childhood illnesses such as respiratory illnesses, malnutrition, measles, malaria and diarrhea. One of CMMB's major programs involves the collection and shipment of needed and requested medicines and medical supplies donated by U.S. based pharmaceutical companies. According to CMMB, in fiscal year 2009, it shipped about 431 pharmaceutical and medical supplies valued at $265 million to recipients in 39 countries. Another of CMMB's major programs involves recruiting and sending medical volunteers around the world. These volunteers are doctors, nurses, dentists, therapists and allied professionals. The volunteers provide services to local patients, as well as provide medical training to local healthcare providers. Furthermore, CMMB engages in capacity building initiatives to support HIV/AIDS programs that strive to reduce HIV prevalence and improve services available to individuals, families and communities. The organization also operates the “Born to Live” program which is CMMB’s prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV program. Through this program, CMMB provides nevirapine to mothers and their babies as well as contributes to the reduction of HIV transmission in countries such as Kenya, Zambia, and Haiti.

For the fiscal year ended September 30, 2009, CMMB's program expenses were:

Healing Help 266,073,567
