CTFK aims to reduce tobacco use and its devastating consequences in the United States and around the world by changing public attitudes and public policies on tobacco. The organization works to educate the public and policy makers about the tobacco problem and its solutions as well as to expose and to counter the tobacco industry's efforts to market to children and to mislead the public. It advocates for proven solutions that reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke as well as mobilize organizations and individuals to join the fight against tobacco use. CTFK strives to empower a tobacco-free generation by fostering youth leadership and activism and by enhancing tobacco prevention efforts worldwide through sharing programs and information with international partners. CTFK reports that Tobacco-Free Kids and its partners have made tremendous progress in the U.S. with smoking down by 45% and 20% amongst high school students and adults respectively. The organization also claims to have played a role in the passing of comprehensive smoke-free laws in 29 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
