B'nai B'rith International (BBI) does not meet the followingStandard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 3: Frequency and Attendance of Board Meetings - An organization shall have a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings per year of the full governing body with a majority in attendance, with face-to-face participation. A conference call of the full board can substitute for one of the three meetings of the governing body. For all meetings, alternative modes of participation are acceptable for those with physical disabilities.

  • BBI does not meet the meeting frequency provision of this Standard because only one meeting of the full governing board was held in the past fiscal year.

Programs

              

BBI provides senior housing and advocacy on issues of concern to seniors and their families; helps communities in crisis; and promotes Jewish identity through cultural activities. BBI operates community programs including Communities in Crisis, aid for the impoverished in Latin America; Project HOPE holiday packages for the poor; Solo Seder kit packages for soldiers overseas; and Unto Every Person There is a Name Holocaust commemoration programs and ceremonies. Furthermore, BBI spreads its message of tolerance through education programs aimed at building a world of understanding. BBI is also involved in youth programs like BBI Cares for Kids, to bring visitors and gifts to hospitalized children; Camp Passport, bringing Israeli kids who have experienced terror first hand to the U.S. for camp; and the Diverse Minds Youth Writing Challenge and Enlighten America, teaching kids tolerance. Through its Center for Human Rights and Public Policy, BBI addresses issues of foreign and domestic concern to the Jewish community. Enlighten America, BBI's community-based anti-hate program, combats bigotry and violence, delivering messages that promote tolerance to schools, youth groups, neighborhood organizations, and places of worship.
