Programs

              

AAFA provides community based services and support to people through a network of regional chapters, support groups and other local partners around the U.S. AAFA develops health education, organizes state and national advocacy efforts and funds research with the aim of finding better treatments and cures. Furthermore, AAFA produces newsletters, resource guides, and other publications on asthma and allergy related topics. AAFA support groups link people who are grappling with the same struggles due to asthma and allergies. Specific types of groups sponsored include offerings for parents and caregivers, pre-teens and teens, adults, and families with food allergies. Through its Asthma Management and Education program, AAFA presents training seminars and offers online courses to nurses, respiratory therapists, and others in the health field on the most current treatments, techniques for teaching patients, and strategies for preventing attacks. In addition to providing coordination for its chapters, AAFA holds workshops on leadership, advocacy, service delivery, and other subject areas.
