Programs

              

APDA fosters and promotes scientific research, direct patient and caregiver support and education to find a cure and to alleviate the condition of individuals suffering from Parkinson’s disease. The organization reports that through a network of 55 Information and Referral (I&R) Centers, 46 chapters, and about 1,000 support groups, APDA’s volunteers and healthcare professionals raise funds for research and direct patient and caregiver support as well as education. Through APDA’s “Ease the Burden” program, both Americans with Parkinson's disease as well as their caregivers are served with free educational publications and programs including local and regional lectures, symposia and conferences. Furthermore, APDA participates in funding of Parkinson disease scientific discoveries through its “Find the Cure” initiative. Some ($459,453 or 5%) of APDA's program activities are carried out in conjunction with fund raising appeals
