ALF produces fact sheets, brochures and other publications on the care and treatment of the liver and related diseases. At workshops and seminars hosted by ALF, experts from health care institutions, pharmaceutical firms, government, and academia give updates on the developments in prevention, diagnosis, and design of effective therapy regimens. ALF chapters provide referrals to support groups and organize free confidential screenings for hepatitis. Grants and fellowships are awarded by ALF for studies into the causes, prevention, treatment, and quest for cures of diseases of the liver, gall bladder, and bile ducts. ALF maintains a database that tracks ongoing clinical trials following patients with liver related ailments. Furthermore, the organization participated in federal, state and local advocacy efforts, including an advocacy day on Capitol Hill, awareness efforts for liver awareness month, hepatitis awareness month and world hepatitis day and collaborations with state and local advocacy efforts to pass legislation that positively improves the lives of people affected by liver disease.
