Programs

              

AHAF advances research and public information in three program areas: Alzheimer’s disease, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma. The organization funds science investigations to better understand and find ways to diagnose, prevent, and treat these diseases. AHAF reports that to date, it has awarded about $115 million in research grants and that its grants have supported more than 1,000 projects and 3,200 scientists. The organization utilizes the web, print publications, email, social media, and TV as well as radio public service announcements (PSAs) to distribute information to the public, especially those affected by the disease. AHAF also aims to educate people about risk factors, the latest research, treatments, and risk reduction. Some ($5, 181,869 or 16%) of AHAF's program activities are carried out in conjunction with fund raising appeals.
