Programs

              

AARDA supports autoimmune research in an effort to identify the underlying cause of all autoimmune diseases. Its research is directed towards finding the mechanisms that initiate the autoimmune response resulting in the disease. AARDA organizes scientific symposiums that cross medical disciplines to affect discussions among researchers and to increase scientific knowledge regarding autoimmune diseases. AARDA’s research is also targeted to the discovery of environmental and genetic triggers for all autoimmune diseases. The organization's educational program focuses on public, patient, and physician education. It conducts public awareness campaigns, patient workshops and scientific meetings. AARDA publishes patient information and a newsletter called “InFocus” as well as sponsors a website. It maintains a toll-free phone number (800-598-4668) to fill general requests for information about autoimmune related diseases. AARDA through its advocacy program works to increase research funding for autoimmune diseases.
