Programs

UCS conducts scientific analysis, develops policy solutions, and engages in advocacy in order to address environmental and global security challenges. The organization’s climate program works to implement science-based policies that are aimed at driving down global warming emissions and promoting the use of clean and renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. Its clean vehicles program works to reduce the environmental impact of cars and trucks by demonstrating the potential of advanced vehicle technology, new fuels, and policies that increase fuel economy and that provide tax incentives for consumers who buy fuel-efficient or hybrid vehicles. Furthermore, UCS operates a food and environment program which promotes agriculture practices and works to reduce the overuse of antibiotics in animal agriculture. It also operates global security and scientific integrity programs and works to elevate the voices of scientists in order to communicate with decision makers and the media.
