Programs

PANNA educates the public on pesticide-related issues and advocates replacing hazardous pesticide use with safer, ecologically sound and socially just alternatives. PANNA supports scientific research and promotes democratic control of local and global food systems. As one of five Pesticide Action Network Regional Centers worldwide, PANNA facilitates a strategically aligned regional network of more than 150 public interest organizations and coalitions in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., to join with more than 600 consumer, labor, health, environmental and agricultural groups for citizens’ action in approximately 90 countries. Other Pesticide Action Network centers are located in Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe and Latin America. The organization works through coalitions and international treaty processes to build movements capable of achieving fundamental change in pest management policy, regulation and practice. PANNA’s science-based advocacy campaigns aim to help communities defend their health and protect their environment, and PANNA’s strategic objectives include elimination of three classes of pesticide chemicals: fumigants, organochlorines and organophosphates. Current campaigns address airborne pesticide drift, farm workers’ and community exposures to pesticides, and the organization promotes sustainable alternatives across North America.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2010, PANNA's program expenses were:

Core programs 1,216,331
