Programs

Audubon’s conservation efforts focus on protecting birds, other wildlife, and their habitats. Audubon's local chapters offer bird walks, advocacy campaigns, nature outings, educational programs and other events for members and the public. The local chapters also publish newsletters, sponsor field trips and education programs, and do advocacy work at the state level. According to the organization, each year, over 1 million people visit Audubon’s national network of centers and sanctuaries. The sanctuaries sponsor environmental education, guided tours, field trips, and special events. During the annual Christmas Bird Count and Great Backyard Bird Count, citizen scientist volunteers help Audubon count millions of birds across the U.S. Through the Important Bird Areas program, Audubon is identifying the places that are critical to birds’ survival and working with partners to protect these lands. "Audubon Magazine" is a quarterly publication provided to members and the public regarding conservation, ecological and bird preservation issues. Audubon Adventures, an environmental education program for children in grades three to six, presents basic, scientifically accurate facts about birds, wildlife, and their habitats. Audubon also helps set conservation agendas for at the state, federal and international level.

Field conservation programs 48,612,008
