Conservation International Foundation (CIF) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 4: Compensated Board Members - Not more than one or 10% (whichever is greater) directly or indirectly compensated person(s) serving as voting member(s) of the board. Compensated members shall not serve as the board's chair or treasurer.

CIF does not meet this Standard because:

  • The paid chief executive officer also serves as the chair of the board of directors.
  • The chair of the board is compensated either directly or indirectly.
In addition, the BBB Wise Giving Alliance requested but did not receive complete information on the organization’s solicitation materials and fundraising disclosures and is unable to verify the organization's compliance with the following Standard for Charity Accountability: 19.

Programs

              

CIF works in more than 40 countries, the majority of them developing nations in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. The organization targets its science, policy and field work to focus on the protection and maintenance of the health of species and habitats. The organization works to conserve ecosystems by establishing networks of protected areas connected by terrestrial and marine biodiversity conservation corridors with multiple sustainable uses. CIF concentrates in six key initiatives: climate, fresh water, food, health, cultural services and biodiversity.
