Programs

IHADF works to ensure that all children have the opportunity to pursue higher education. The organization’s local affiliates sponsor students in low-income communities and work with them from an early age through college. Upon high school graduation, each “Dreamer” receives tuition assistance for higher education. At each of the organization’s sites, the local program team works with a segment of the community ranging from school districts and colleges, to businesses, religious organizations and civic groups, to provide Dreamers with the academic and leadership skills they need to overcome the 1-in-10 odds that they will earn their college degree. IHADF reports that, currently, more than 3,500 Dreamers are on the pathway to college in 17 states, Washington, D.C., and New Zealand, following the more than 11,000 Dreamers who came before them. IHADF provides guidance, resources, and technical assistance to their local affiliates including designing customized college preparation curricula, sponsoring professional development activities for program staff, facilitating the sharing of best practices across the network, conducting detailed site assessments and consultations, and developing national partnerships that can provide educational resources at low or no cost. IHADF also serves as the central repository for current and historical performance data across the network in order to measure the organization’s collective impact, drive continuous improvement efforts, and strengthen performance accountability.

For the fiscal year ended August 31, 2009, IHADF's program expenses were:

Program services 1,630,121
