Programs

NCUF’s programs aim to provide financial education, create greater access to affordable financial services, and empower credit union members to build assets. NCUF in-house programs include REAL Solutions and Credit Union Development Education. NCUF grant programs include Innovation grants and CUAid. REAL Solutions helps credit unions provide affordable and sustainable services to people of low wealth and modest means, as well as working families. NCUF reports that in 2009, it was able to approve 13 Innovation grants that will help credit union members gain financial education, build assets, and keep their homes. Also in 2009, the Development Education program had more than 900 graduates generating awareness of the socially responsible and sustainable credit union business model. CUAid raised disaster relief donations that were disbursed as grants to credit union employees and members who suffered losses due to wildfires in California, floods in Iowa and Maine, and tornados in Alabama. In 2010, NCUF provided assistance through CUAid for credit union members and employees who suffered losses due to the earthquake in Haiti.
