Programs

IMAN categorizes its work within three areas: direct services, organizing social justice, and arts and culture. Through direct services, IMAN provides assistance that ranges from health care to youth programming. These services are facilitated through the Free IMAN Health Clinic and other initiatives and collectively enable the organization to meet community needs and build lasting relationships. The organization also organizes the Chicago-land Muslim community around the issues of immigration reform, criminal justice, and education. IMAN mobilizes community members and leaders around issues of social justice through events such as “Takin’ It to the Streets,” a community festival which brings together people to Marquette Park in the Southwest side of Chicago, which also includes an opportunity for the community to engage with artists. Community Café, a bi-monthly spoken word venue for artists, entertainers, and activists, serves to connect IMAN’s network of artists more regularly with its constituents to provide an outlet for artistic expression.

For the year ended December 31, 2009, IMAN's program expenses were:

Social services 587,589
Networking and organizing 378,498
