Evaluation Conclusions

              

Asian American Justice Center (AAJC) does not meet the following Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 7: Board Approval of Written Report on Effectiveness - Submit to the organization's governing body, for its approval, a written report that outlines the results of the aforementioned performance and effectiveness assessment and recommendations for future actions.

AAJC does not meet this Standard because:

  • Although it has produced a written effectiveness assessment report, the report did not include recommendations for future actions.  In addition, the effectiveness assessment was not submitted for approval to the board of directors.
AAJC meets the remaining 19Standards for Charity Accountability.

Programs

              

AAJC operates a number of programs including affirmative action, anti-Asian violence and race relations, census, community partners, immigrations and immigrant rights, television diversity, voting rights, etc. with the aim of enhancing and serving Asian communities across the country. AAJC uses advocacy, public policy, public education and litigation as its core strategies. AAJC promotes civic engagement and tries to empower Asian Americans with the tools and network to best participate in the democratic process, and at the same time, shape the policies and programs that affect their communities. Furthermore, it tries to foster strong and safe communities by building community leadership and combating hate crimes, while promoting social understanding between its diverse racial and ethnical groups. AAJC also aims to create an inclusive society by helping Asian American and other minority groups to challenge discriminatory barriers to fair and equal access to justice in the courts, jobs in the marketplace as well as government programs, benefits and forms of assistance at every level.
