Programs

              

NCSBS works on the prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome and infant abuse through programs that educate parents and caregivers about normal infant behavior, including infant crying. The organization’s programs also educate parents about the dangers of shaking a child and how best to handle the stress of dealing with an inconsolable crying infant. NCSBS’s program known as the Period of PURPLE Crying has been implemented in hospital systems and public health organizations across the country and provides parents and caregivers with a 10 minute DVD and 11 page booklet which talk about infant crying, how to handle the stress related to this crying, and the dangers of shaking a child. NCSBS also has programs geared at educating dads, child care providers, and kids at the junior high and high school levels about proper techniques to care for a child and how to handle the challenges of raising a new baby.
