Programs

The Foundation provides hospital and retreat housing to ill children and their families with the goal of keeping families together during the child's medical crisis. In addition, the Foundation developed the concept of pediatric retreat facilities. In 2000, the Foundation opened a five unit condominium retreat house in Ocean City, Maryland. Since that time, four additional retreat houses have been opened in Maryland. The Foundation is also scheduled to open an additional house in Hendersonville, North Carolina in late 2008. Furthermore, the Foundation reports that it encourages families to use its retreat facilities on an ongoing basis, free of charge, to renew themselves mentally and physically while spending quality time together. Through its Hands on Adventures program, a network of partnerships has been developed between the Foundation and unique industries that allow children focus on the future, rather than the stressful routine of hospital visits.

For the year ended December 31, 2007, the Foundation's program expenses were:

Children's housing 1,088,009
Hands-on adventures 236,555
