American Association for Lost Children (AAFLC) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 4: Compensated Board Members - Not more than one or 10% (whichever is greater) directly or indirectly compensated person(s) serving as voting member(s) of the board. Compensated members shall not serve as the board's chair or treasurer.

AAFLC does not meet this Standard because:

  • 2 members out of the 5 member board of directors (40%) are compensated.  One is a paid staff member and the other is compensated indirectly as the sibling of a paid staff member.  Furthermore, the indirectly compensated board member also serves as the treasurer of the board.
American Association for Lost Children (AAFLC) meets the remaining 19 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Programs

              

AAFLC reports finding and rescuing missing children at no cost to the parents. The organization also conducts physical searches for missing children, along with educating, counseling, and encouraging the parents. Furthermore, AAFLC works in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to recover missing children.
