Evaluation Conclusions

Alliance for Children Everywhere (ACE) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 3: Frequency and Attendance of Board Meetings - An organization shall have a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings per year of the full governing body with a majority in attendance, with face-to-face participation. A conference call of the full board can substitute for one of the three meetings of the governing body. For all meetings, alternative modes of participation are acceptable for those with physical disabilities.

ACE does not meet this Standard because:

  • The board of directors only held one face to face full board meeting in the past year.
ACE meets the remaining 19 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Programs

Through its child welfare projects in Zambia such as “milk and medicine” which is a supplemental feeding program, the organization aims at preventing abandonment by providing infant formula and prescriptions along with social work services to families affected by extreme poverty and/or HIV, who would otherwise be at risk of institutionalizing their children. ACE reports that this feeding program currently has 150 students enrolled. ACE also operates three rescue homes for abandoned infants, orphans, and young children in crisis in Zambia. The residential homes house children up to 14 years of age. The homes are not orphanages, but rather temporary crisis shelters that provide immediate care and nurture until children can be returned to extended family, placed in a foster home, or can be adopted. Through ACE’s Faith Works church-based schools, children who will not otherwise receive an education are served. The schools are housed and operated by local indigenous churches, with funding and other material support provided by ACE. The organization reports that it currently has 8 participating churches with an enrollment of 1,900 children from grades 1-7.

For the year ended December 31, 2009, ACE's program expenses were:

Program services 1,062,125
Total Program Expenses: $1,062,125
