Programs

VHLFA focuses its activities on two major program divisions: Education and Research. The Education Program works with families, friends, and physicians to inform each of these contingents. VHLFA provides person-to-person support through telephone, e-mail, and internet discussions, and helps people understand the affects of VHL, how to manage one’s health with VHL, and how to find the best resources for the problem at hand. Educational publications such as the newsletter, the “VHL Handbook” and its companion “Kids’ Edition” work to provide a conceptual framework for both the patient and the physician. VHLFA’s Research Program works with the research community to provide data and tissue for research. VHLFA raises money and awards research grants to encourage young researchers in this area.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2009, VHLFA's program expenses were:

Education 157,705
Research 61,020
