Programs

              

NFCR funds scientific research projects to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all types of cancer. The organization supports nine Research Discovery Centers in the United States, China, Germany and the United Kingdom. NFCR indicates that these research centers and other funded research programs help create a "Laboratory Without Walls" that seeks to strengthen cancer research programs by encouraging scientists from diverse research disciplines to share their knowledge and research efforts to improve cancer prevention strategies, diagnostic techniques, and anticancer treatment options. NFCR also has a public education program that involves the distribution of brochures, electronic newsletters, fact sheets and other communications that offer advice on diet and lifestyle changes that help in cancer prevention, encourage screening for certain types of cancers, and provide information on cancer treatment options. Some ($5,204,000 or 78%) of NFCR's public education and information programs are carried out in conjunction with fund raising appeals.
