Programs

NBCCF’s goals are to increase the effectiveness of breast cancer research and the resources available to it; improve access for all women to high-quality health care and clinical trials; and to expand the influence of patient advocates wherever breast cancer decisions are made. The organization works to accomplish these goals through programs that train advocates to collaborate with the research community, analyze scientific information, and ensure that materials they produce are based on medical evidence. Each year in May, NBCCF holds a conference in Washington, DC, where breast cancer activists from across the country gather to learn the latest information on breast cancer science, research and public policy. The organization’s Center for NBCC Advocacy Training teaches breast cancer activists a public policy and research-focused approach to advocacy. By offering specialized, targeted training in breast cancer science and public policy, the Center aims to ready breast cancer activists to become agents of action and change in the mission to eradicate breast cancer. NBCCF also provides free print and web-based education materials to the general public on how to get quality breast cancer care, and carries out education and outreach programs to ensure that advocates, policy makers, the media and the general public understand the issues surrounding breast cancer research, science and public policy.

For the year ended December 31, 2010, NBCCF's program expenses were:
