Programs

              

BCRF raises funds to support breast cancer research programs. BCRF is committed to ensuring that scientists receive the funding they need to continue with their investigations as it relates to the prevention and cure of breast cancer. BCRF’s research grant program is monitored by scientific advisors who invite proposals each year and review funded projects semi-annually. Scientists who receive BCRF grants work to discover new methods of preventing, diagnosing, and treating breast cancer. The organization reports that scientists' accomplishments include the development of new drugs and treatment methods, the discovery of genetic markers for breast cancer, the detection of fundamental properties of breast cancer “stem” cells, or tumor-origination cells, the inception and completion of national and international breast cancer clinical trials, and the discovery of links between breast cancer risk and lifestyle factors, such as diet and exercise.
