Programs

              

PCRM is a nationwide group of physicians and laypersons concerned about issues in modern medicine. The organization advocates against unethical human research practices and promotes alternatives to animal use in laboratories and education. PCRM reports that it has a team of physicians and scientists that work to raise awareness of ethical and practical problems in research and assists in the implementation of non-animal methods. The organization has worked to eliminate animal use at medical schools and trauma laboratories. PCRM coordinates the activities of international animal protection organizations in addressing animal use in global chemical testing. The organization reports that it promotes healthful diets, particularly vegetarian and vegan choices, and works to reform public nutrition policies. Staff members of the organization conduct research and literature reviews, lecture at scientific conferences, and work to improve the healthfulness of school lunches. Some ($523,370 or 6%) of PCRM's program activities are carried out in conjunction with fund raising appeals.
