Hooved Animal Humane Society (HAHS) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 10: Ending Net Assets - Avoid accumulating funds that could be used for current program activities. To meet this standard, the charity's unrestricted net assets available for use should not be more than three times the size of the past year's expenses or three times the size of the current year's budget, whichever is higher.

  • HAHS does not meet this Standard because according to its audited financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2008, the organization's total unrestricted net assets were $2,730,207, or 4 times the charity's total 2007 expenses of $650,394.
Hooved Animal Humane Society (HAHS) meets the remaining 19 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Programs

              

HAHS programs include rescuing and rehabilitating neglected and abused hooved animals, primarily horses. In addition, HAHS educates the public on proper animal care and investigates allegatons of abuse and neglect and when needed impounds the animals. HAHS also has an Adopt-A-Hoof program where qualified individuals can adopt a horse, goat or pig.
