Days End Farm Horse Rescue (DEFHR) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 16: Annual Report - Have an annual report available to all, on request, that includes: (a) the organization's mission statement, (b) a summary of the past year's program service accomplishments, (c) a roster of the officers and members of the board of directors, (d) financial information that includes (i) total income in the past fiscal year, (ii) expenses in the same program, fund raising and administrative categories as in the financial statements, and (iii) ending net assets.

DEFHR does not meet this standard because:

  • The organization states it does not have an annual report covering activities conducted in 2010.

Programs

              

DEFHR works with both animal control and humane societies when horses have to be impounded due to abuse or neglect. The organization reports that it has rehabilitated over 1,750 horses and has placed 94% into safe, loving adoption homes. DEFHR cases are documented and used to prosecute owners to help convict for animal cruelty. The organization is supported by more than 1,600 active volunteers. In 2010, volunteers gave over 47,000 hours of service to the farm. The organization reports that it reaches more than 50,000 individuals each year nationwide through training, seminars, clinics, farm programs, tours, special events, social media and community outreach. DEFHR offers large animal rescue training, equine cruelty investigator clinics, and a first time horse owners clinic. It also offers large animal rescue and disaster services for equine emergencies in the U.S.
