The agency's purpose is to assist people in achieving their maximum level of independence and self-sufficiency while being offered the opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of society and community life by focusing on the positive aspects of their lives.

Programs

              

The Tri-County Community Action provides programs and services for the elderly and low income persons as follows: Elderly Programs: Adult Day Care--provides out-of-home respite care for functionally impaired elderly clients. Activities are designed to provide social interaction as well as support services for families and care givers & are designed for clients to remain independent and in their home environment. Senior Centers--TCCAA operates three Senior Centers that serve as focal points for the rural communities the agency serves. Services include congregate and home delivered meals, client advocacy, education and training, health promotion, recreation, information and assistance, outreach, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance, and transportation. Homecare--assistance to elderly in their home with activities of daily living, personal care, homemaking, grocery shopping. Non Emergency Medical Transportation--transportation services to and from medical appointments for those 60 and older. Family Program Services: These programs offer financial assistance and services for income eligible persons of all ages. Weatherization--provides energy related home repairs to help lower heating and cooling expenses. Repairs can include fixing or replacing the heating system; adding insulation; and stopping air infiltration. Energy Assistance--LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.) provides assistance towards heating expenses during the winter months. Participants must meet income guidelines and be responsible for their heating expenses. Self-Sufficiency--targets families and individuals who are working toward becoming self-sufficient. Services include case management, goal setting, employment skills development, educational enhancement, household and financial management & financial counseling. Emergency Assistance-- provides financial assistance with food, utility, clothing, shelter and medical needs. Families experiencing a temporary financial crisis receive budget counseling along with the financial assistance to help them identify problem areas and to avoid crisis situations in the future. Other Services: Food commodities are provided based on eligibility. Commodity distribution for Oldham county is specifically for senior citizens. Commodities are offered on a monthly basis to both senior citizens and the general population in Henry and Trimble counties. WinterCare program helps clients with electric bills from participating utility companies. Information and Referrals services are provided to clients to help access the available resources within the community.
